Sayat-Nova studies, despite certain amateurish and at times even anti-scholarly manifestations, continues its valuable and fruitful path, uncovering ever new layers of Sayat-Nova’s biography and creative legacy. The present booklet represents a summary of the author’s long-standing and extensive experience.

In order to protect the public from misconceptions and distortions, H. Bakhchinyan, in his account of Sayat-Nova’s life and work, has relied on historical sources (Armenian and Georgian), on more or less reliable traditions, as well as on his own annotations concerning Sayat-Nova’s songs and on the direct and indirect biographical evidence contained in the songs themselves.
