As in the previous books of the author, "I Will Turn off the Lights," "We Will Get Used to It," "The Acrid Taste of Persimmon," etc, in this novel as well, the image of Iran is literally torn between the struggle of the old, traditional, and the new. The inevitable battle doesn’t bypass the small Armenian community, established here since ancient times. The novel depicts the three different stages of the hero’s life; the Armenian community is portrayed from within. The characters live on the borderline of the old and new; their little delights and big sorrows, simple human joys and deep wounds are often interconnected with the self-contained community, ingrained national customs, and, of course, religious differences.

Only 172 pages, but a vigorous life, and full personalities.

"One Day Till Easter" is a significant work of contemporary Iranian prose. The novel won several Iranian and international awards and was translated into many languages.
