The Armenian reader is mostly familiar with the famous French writer Hector Malot by his novel Nobody’s Boy. The novel Suzanne (1872) describes the events related to the Franco-Prussian War. The issues discussed in the novel are surprisingly relevant today, and the plot is attractive.

The novel Miss Clifton was written later as a sequel to Suzanne. Both works are read with great interest due to the talented author's “smooth pen”, subtle irony, and vivid description of historical events.
