We know how great the influence of Music is on all aspects, and especially teaching a foreign language; eventually, songs must be taught to children beginning in the lower classes and up. Songs help to activate the oral speech. Song-teaching must be part of the lesson. During my teaching (over sixty years), I’ve taught my pupils (students as well) many songs and enjoyed their effect. I have collected a great number of songs, which will be helpful to the English teachers.
The songs for lower classes are simple and easy; at the same time, they are games; e.g, Clap your hands, Put your finger on your… different parts of the body, while repeating the words. The songs are chosen for different occasions: birthdays, Christmas, New Year, Mother’s Day, etc. We have included songs from well-known motion pictures as The Sound of Music, Love Story, Mary Poppins, Romeo and Juliet, and My Fair Lady. The last ones are patriotic songs as Erebuni-Yerevan, This Land is Your Land, and Apricot Stone. We have included the National Anthem of Armenia, the UK anthem, and the American anthem.
