Python: Programming from Zero

This book is a guide to learning the fundamentals of programming through the Python language. It is intended for school pupils, students, and anyone who wishes to learn independently—without additional assistance.

You will learn the most basic concepts of programming and begin to think like a programmer—how to approach problems and how to solve them. You will become familiar with different data types, how they work, and how they interact with functions.

You will write your first program, and then explore Python’s standard library, core principles, classes, objects, and the concept of inheritance.

The book does not provide solutions to the exercises, as there is no single correct answer. Any problem, regardless of its complexity, can have multiple solutions. You are encouraged to write code, test it, and fail. Yes—fail, and learn from your own failures.

Karo Hakobyan was born in 1952 in Iran. He graduated from the University of Tehran with a degree in mathematics and computer science and continued his studies in the same field at Uppsala University. For over 25 years, he taught and worked in Sweden’s educational system as a specialist in computer science and programming.
In 2024, he authored a comprehensive and multi-volume guide on the fundamentals of Java programming.
